Writing in the Wilderness

May 31, 2019 By Elizabeth Jane Morgan

I am so happy to welcome you all to my first blog. I am currently writing from Yellowstone National Park, where I am working for the summer. It is beautiful here and a perfect place to write. In the morning, I wake up to the sound of birds, bison, and bears. Luckily, I haven’t run into any bears yet. The one bison I’ve seen walked away from me.

I am a fantasy writer, so the forest around me makes me feel like I’m in a fairy tale. There are pine trees all around me. The smell of pine reminds me of Christmas! The ice covering the nearby lake sparkles in the sun and makes the area look like a winter wonderland.

I will be in Yellowstone until October, with many adventures and writing opportunities in front of me. It is serene and quiet in Yellowstone. I can see myself sitting under a tree and reading on a day off, just as long as no bears come along.
